Emmanuel joined as a Candidate Attorney in February 2022. Emmanuel obtained a BSc (Biochemistry & Microbiology) cum laude degree from the University of South Africa. He also holds a BSc Honours and MSc degree from the University of Pretoria. His most outstanding technical output from his MSc degree was co-inventing an innovative point-of-care diagnostic for tuberculosis. A patent application was filed for this invention to which he is a co-inventor. He subsequently joined a start-up company at University of Pretoria to exploit the invention. He has more than 10 years’ experience in disease diagnostics with a specific focus on tuberculosis.

With his experience in translational biochemistry gained from his academic training and the setting up of a start-up company to convert his and fellow students’ discoveries into products, he learned the importance of intellectual property protection. This motivated him to qualify himself further in law, aiming at empowering himself towards responsible and thorough intellectual property protection to best serve the clients, the investors, the entrepreneurs, and the creators of the intellectual property. He obtained a LLBcum laude degree from the University of South Africa.

In 2017, Emmanuel was selected as one of the Top 100 Brightest Young Minds in Africa, a highly prestigious distinction by the Brightest Young Minds organization.
